Xiao Qiang, Founder, China Digital Times

Xiao Qiang, a Beijing native, is a professional observer and commentator on Chinese Internet, media, and politics. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the "China Digital Times," an independent China news portal, and, as an adjunct professor at Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, directs the Berkeley China Internet project. Xiao also studied physics in China and the US and has been a long time human rights activist. He is a recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship in 2001, and is profiled in the book, Soul Purpose: 40 People Who Are Changing the World for the Better.
